Ben strives to conduct his work with respect, honesty, objectivity and integrity, in accordance with the principles of Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and the Baltic Code.
As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Ben is guided by the Code of Professional and Ethical Conduct for Members, particularly relating to the conduct of members when acting or seeking to act as neutrals in alternative dispute resolution processes.
Ben is similarly guided by the LMAA Advice on Ethics.
Ben adheres to the EU Model Code of Conduct for Mediators and, as a CEDR Accredited Mediator, is guided by CEDR's Code of Conduct for Third Party Neutrals.
As a member of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF), Ben is guided by the DRBF Code of Ethical Conduct.
An expert has a duty to exercise reasonable skill and care in carrying out their instructions, and the overriding duty of an expert is to the tribunal. Ben is familiar with, and guided by, Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and the Practice Direction (PD35).
