In 2020, Ben answered the call of Maritime UK's 'Inspiring the future Maritime' campaign. The campaign aims to connect volunteers from the maritime sector with young people in the classroom, providing the opportunity for inspirational career journeys to be shared, to demonstrate the vast range of opportunities that exist, help them understand the skills and qualifications required, and raise aspirations of the next generation.
In July 2019 Ben took part in the '24 Peaks Challenge' in the Lake District (https://www.seafarers.uk/event/the-24-peaks-challenge/) with Carisbrooke Shipping and a team of intrepid hikers, completing the 24 hour challenge in 22 hours 9 minutes. This was the 3rd time Ben has completed the challenge raising money for Seafarers UK in the process.
The event was cancelled in 2020, but Ben looks forward to participating again in future events, and raising much needed funds for Seafarers UK in the process.
